The Deliverer    The mudbrick fortress along the desert river shadowed the camel-hair tents squatting on the opposite bank. White plaster on its walls burned so bright under the sun that Shaykh Abduleh needed to shield his eyes to make out the pointed parapets from the camp. He would have thought the great building better suited to house Elah Himself than any race of humanity, yet he could not mistake the black soldiers of Kametu patrolling on top.
    Abduleh’s olive-brown face flushed red as he curled his lips into a hateful sneer. Unlike the Kametians, who strutted around in skimpy white kilts and dazzling gold, he wore the modest woolen robe and keffiyeh headdress typical of Ishmaelim, without any jewelry to show off. Not that he needed such useless glitter anyway, for the gray streaking his black beard earned him all the tribe’s respect that he needed. Half-Sisters: Chapter 1    Though gold sunlight shafted through her bedchamber’s window, Pharaoh Sekhmethotep lay sprawled and still on her bed, staining the linen sheets gray with her perspiration. Her short woolly hair cushioned her against the headrest as she gazed at the mudbrick ceiling with half-shut eyes. Only the birds twittered outside while Sekhmethotep hummed a childhood lullaby to herself. Given all that afflicted Kemet these days, she needed all the rest she could get more than ever before.
    Rapping on wood shattered her peace once again. Sekhmethotep sprang off the bed, wiping her dark brown forehead dry, and staggered to the bedchamber door muttering curses under her breath. “What is it this time?” she asked.
    “For the last time, don’t give me that attitude, young lady!” Djadao, her fat old Vizier, said from behind the door.

Her MajestyHer Majesty surveys from her tawny palace's balcony.
Her father the Sun cozies her with his light's embrace.
Snow-pale linen enwraps her midnight-dark frame,
A slender build but her curves are gentle.
Gold and gems gleam around her neck and arms,
But her cobra-hood crown burns brightest of all.
Her Majesty leans against the columned railing.
Fishers' reed rafts bob on the dazzling Nile,
While crocodiles slither past the ranting hippos.
Papyrus and palms sway along the black banks.
The kingdom's young crop rests below the water's edge.
Mud hut villages chatter in two tongues.
They are the voices of men and the thumping of drums.
Her Majesty inhales the sweet lotus scent.
The twin towers of the temples' pylon gates
Sting her eyes with their holy white glow.
Among these the obelisks point skyward,
Spears of stone engraved with pictures.
Highest of all rise her ancestors' tombs.
These limestone mountains have golden peaks.
Her Majesty sighs with tears glossing her cheeks.

"What am I going to do?! What am I going to do?!" Kathrin said to herself as she paced back and forth in her apartment, her friends where back at their own home she didn't, couldn't, contact them. What could she say to them?
That she somehow came across a magic spell that turned a pharaoh who had been dead for thousands of years back to life through some kind of gold dust by breaking the stone that she was holding.
Yeah that was totally believable. Not.
